 About Matt Dreher

Matt is the owner of Spider Web Music and Dreher Guitars (Guitar Repair and Instruction). He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Kent State University, with an emphasis on classical guitar and voice.

As a former public school general music teacher and choir director, Matt has spent over 25 years teaching private guitar and general music lessons to both children and adults. He is also the author of the book "Music Theory for Guitar."

Beyond his work as a luthier, Matt's true passion is education. He loves sharing his craft directly with other players, guiding you step-by-step through his private, 1-on-1 lessons so you can confidently master your own guitar setup, repair, and restoration techniques.

We offer dedicated, private coaching for adult learners at every stage—from beginners wanting a solid foundation to experienced players looking to refine technique or learn professional setup skills. Tailored curriculum and flexible appointment times.

What Will You Learn in Guitar Lessons?

In private lessons with Matt, you will learn how to play scales, master chords, and use practical music theory to navigate the entire guitar neck with ease.

Instead of just memorizing shapes, you will apply these concepts directly to real songs and pieces. This approach gives you a deep, thorough understanding of the music, making it much faster and easier to learn your favorite songs.

What Styles Will You Learn in Guitar Lessons?

Matt specializes in private lessons for acoustic, classical, and electric guitar across a wide variety of genres, including rock, blues, country, and classical.

In your lessons, you will master both flatpicking and proper fingerstyle techniques (using fingernails—no plastic finger picks here!). Dedicated coaching for simultaneously playing and singing is also offered to help you perform with absolute confidence.

 Lesson Rates & Schedule Options

We structure our private lessons around 1-hour sessions (same day and time each week), which allow for much more in-depth learning, practical application, and better musical outcomes than a standard half-hour slot.

• Bi-Weekly Lessons (Every Two Weeks) — $50 per hour
  Average of $100/month. Perfect for busy schedules, giving you ample time to practice and master concepts between sessions.
• Weekly Lessons (For Serious Students) — $50 per hour
  Average of $200/month. Designed for accelerated progress and maximum accountability.

Note: Instructional books are not included in the tuition fee. For beginners, materials cost approximately $35.

Tuition & Payment Policies

To keep our scheduling streamlined and fair to all students, we operate on a flat monthly tuition system:

• Automatic Payments: Tuition is billed automatically to your credit or debit card at the first of each month for the entire month ahead.
• Month-to-Month Freedom: There are no long-term contracts or commitments. You can discontinue lessons at any time by sending an email the week before a new month begins to stop future payments.
• Attendance Policy: Because your time slot is exclusively reserved for you, tuition is not pro-rated, discounted, or refunded for missed sessions, and lessons do not carry over as credits.
• Makeup Lessons: If you need to miss a session and provide at least 24 hours' notice, we will gladly help you schedule a makeup lesson as our calendar and availability permit.
